Male Baldness Does Not Have to Lead to a Broken Heart

July 18, 2013

I once had a case where a male victim experienced a mild myocardial infarction (heart attack). I believe it was the result of a “broken heart.”

He had male pattern baldness. He had documented that a wig was worn for two years. He also had written how bad he felt about being bald.

I want all men to know that there are new products to help with male pattern baldness. RegenePure Precision Minoxidil Spray is a revolutionary hair loss treatment that will forever change the way men fight back against male pattern baldness.

A second product RegenePure® DR contains Ketoconazole, a powerful antifungal that is often used to treat dandruff and makes the hair look and feel thicker. In recent studies, it has also been shown to disrupt the production of DHT, which can curb hair loss and help to stimulate growth. But this does not stop with one powerful, high-quality ingredient. RegenePure® DR is packed with other beneficial elements, including Saw Palmetto extract, Vitamin B6 and Zinc Oxide. Niacin, Caffeine and Linolenic Acid are also included to stimulate the scalp, while Emu and Jojoba oils keep the skin supple and rejuvenated. Click on the link for a complete description of key ingredients and their restorative properties. The hair loss shampoos are formulated with world-class ingredients and powerful restorative properties to bring out the best in men’s hair.

County Nurse Coroner

June 26, 2013

Our evening supervisor is leaving our facility because she is going to be our county nurse coroner. Nurse death examiners work for the medical examiner and investigate the circumstances of a death before the body can be released. Nurse coroners can perform death investigations, as well as issue death certificates, a responsibility that differentiates them from nurse death investigators. This nurse is excited to begin her new career. She gets to use nursing in a new light. The nursing process is always the same- assess, diagnose, plan, implement, evaluate. She will just be using these procedures in the after life. She will gain new assessment skills from the head to toe exam. She will not be able to ask questions so will have to rely on what the body can tell her. How interesting is that? I someday think I might be interested in that. I do have a major concern. That is getting shot at with a gun or stabbed with a knife. I feel safe when armed officers are present. Another thing that helps me feel safe is when I wear ballistic armor. The agency that I work for must have and buy Teflon fabric armor.

These boots made a difference

June 19, 2013

A co-worker and I were assigned to assess the death of a man in the middle of winter. Neither one of us had a desire to go up into the mountain. But, we both went.

It was 30 degrees below zero and snowing that morning. The snowfall the previous night was 12 inches. We left our comfortable office and traveled a whole hour by jeep. After we parked our vehicle, there was another hour of travel by foot. I was glad I was wearing my comfortable boots for women. I could not tell what my co-worker was wearing. His footwear was completely covered by snow as was mines.

When we made it to the remote cabin, we shook the snow and ice off our footwear. My feet were warm and not tired. I was amazed because that was the first time I wore the boots on a field call. The boots arrived in the mail only 2 weeks before the cabin assignment. My co-worker had a different reaction to the one-hour trek. He had to immediately rest and massage his feet once we reached the cabin.

When we finished our assessment at the accident scene, my co-worker jokingly asked to exchange foot ware.

Christopher Dorner’s remains identified by dental records

February 18, 2013

No two persons will have identical arrangement of their teeth. Thus, a positive identity can be made for one person based on the arrangement of his/her teeth. The clue can be revealed by a written note or a picture in the dental record. Going a step further, the dental X-ray may be needed to make the positive identification.

When the teeth are not attached to the jaw and the original arrangement is not present, each tooth will be examined and compared to the written record, photos, and X-rays.

Sometimes charts, X-rays, CT scans, and other assessments are used from medical records. These records can be located at Emergency Rooms, ENT offices, etc.

If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon, comment

May 24, 2012

I wrote the original article If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon. I am glad to hear that public officials are saying the same thing I said. That is the Trayvon Zimmerman case should not be tried in the media, but in the judicial system.

I blame part of this on the media. The media did not have to release and discuss photos of George Zimmerman when he was first arrested. The media outlet I read and saw, discussed there were no signs of trauma on Zimmerman. Now, from official police and hospital reports Zimmerman is said to have trauma.

This change of “statements of facts” can be avoided by letting the judicial system handle the Trayvon Martin George Zimmerman case.

Michael Jackson Cause of Death

April 5, 2012

This is in response to Whitney Houston Cause of Death, comment

I will add some far reaching causes of death for Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. These include fame and entertainment industry pressures. I and others have a part to play. We demand a lot from other entertainers such as Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. It seems that with each next performance, we demand more than the previous performance.

I think of my job. If I do great work as a forensic nurse, I will receive praise and a plague. I receive applause from the community for solving tough cases. Yet, the community and my bosses expect more. I give more. Again, everyone expects more. The cycle keep repeating.

Maybe we as the public should not push our great entertainers to the brink of death.

Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, we miss you. We were glad you were a part of our lives.

If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon (comment)

April 3, 2012

My vote is no, the public should not be involve with the investigation and monitoring of the investigation of the death of young man Trayvon Martin. Look at how the video of the Robert Zimmerman at the police station is handled. First it was said on the news that it did not appear Mr. Zimmerman had wounds. After video enhancement, it is said the Mr. Zimmerman now has wounds.

The professional investigators should be allowed to do their jobs without “backseat drivers” giving directions. It is a certainty that the professional investigators will be double checking each other. Thus, there is no need of the public double checking.

If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon (comment)

March 30, 2012

I wholeheartedly disagree with your position that we should not be public in our protest. And that we should follow the slow governmental procedures regarding public injustices.

If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon also. I also am an Afro-American working for a governmental agency handling forensics.

One big recent example of a need for public participation, is with the pilot who had a meltdown on a JetBlue plane. Are you saying, we as citizens should not do something about a public injustice? Should we have called the governmental authorities and let them handle it? Should we let the scene run its course, then contact the authorities after the incident? I say no. I say when there is a danger to ourselves and others, we should react. When that danger is immediately before our eyes, we should react. Or whether that dangers is before us politically, morally, ethically, or socially we should react. Social injustice can cause just as much harm as physical injustice (killing).

If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon

March 28, 2012

I am an Afro-American and proud of it. If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon.

I am also a forensic nurse. This is not going to be easy to say. The parents of Trayvon Martin and the community should not make a media protest against the legal system. A protest can be made in a personal method. I realize that there a questions about the Sanford Police Department handling of the case. But there are governmental methods to make the protest known.

It is possible the forensic teams, FL State Attorney’s office, U.S. Justice Department, and others may show the shooting of Trayvon Martin as not unjust and not racially motivated. This type of announcement will be difficult to emotionally accept.

If the above announcement is made, this will hurt our Afro-American community when we need to address similar injustices. There have been and will continue to be factual and provable injustices.

If there is an announcement saying that the youth Trayvon Martin’s death in unjust, this will bring some emotional relief to the family and community. This announcement with its investigation could and can be obtain by the governmental and procedural methods established.
