If the practice of FGM is as wide spread as the author states it seem to me that in 21 years of nursing I would have seen a patient with such mutilations. I agree the practice is an abomination, and it has cultural roots which I am wildly glad that I am not apart of, I still must question our right to impose our belief upon another culture (we already so much of that as Americans). Should not those kinds of issues be resolved within the country it is happening in? I have no answers to these types of issues, and FGM is wrong, but the countries need to take care of their own issues.
