Forensic nursing Chronicles Driving under the influence of carisoprodol.
This drug’s job is to relax muscles. How can people whom need muscles relaxed think they can drive when they have taken it?
It does not amaze me that people drive on this even though when I prescribed this medication I tell them and give them a piece of paper that tells them, “you must not drive or use heavy equipment.” The person taking this medication should avoid any activities that require alertness.
This medication will cause drowsiness, dizziness, vertigo, ataxia, tremor, agitation, irritability, headache, depressive reactions, and tachycardia.
I always tell my patients that they will not be functional on this medication and need to stay home and rest. This medication is to treat an injury that needs rest. People should be ticketed if they use this medication, just as they should be sited if they are drunk and tired.
